For over a hundred years The Cadogan Hotel
, a 65-bedroom townhouse located half way between Knightsbridge and Sloane Square on Sloane Street, has been the epitome of discretion and offers guests a welcoming home away from home.

Located within easy walking distance of Harrods and Harvey Nichols, the hotel was once home to Lillie Langtry who entertained her friends, King Edward VII and Oscar Wilde behind its portals. The hotel completed a refurbishment in April 2004 by Grace Leo-Andrieu, who took over the management of this prestigious London address in August 2003. The hotel has been a welcoming haven for discerning visitors since its opening in 1888.

History
Soon after The Cadogan opened, it became linked with two of the most fascinating personalities of the age, both at the centre of London's social and artistic life - Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde.
Lillie Langtry, famous actress and close friend of Edward VII, lived at 21 Pont Street from 1892 to 1897. Long after she had sold the house, Lillie would stay in her old bedroom, by then a part of the hotel. The Cadogan is perhaps best known for its association with Oscar Wilde who was arrested in room 118 in 1895. Throughout the hotel, The Cadogan has the feel of a private townhouse steeped with British old-world elegance. The experience is complemented by touches of unexpected modernity, which are subtly woven in to bring this historical building into the 21st Century.

Famous Guests
The Cadogan, built in 1887, is well known for its association with Lillie Langtry, famous actress and friend of King Edward VII. Her great friend, Oscar Wilde, was a frequent visitor to The Cadogan, and it was in room 118 that he sat waiting for his arrest in 1895. This incident at The Cadogan was immortalized by John Betjeman in his poem "The Arrest of Oscar Wilde at the Cadogan Hotel".

Cadogan Gardens
Guests of The Cadogan can enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Cadogan Gardens opposite the hotel, one of London's many private gardens. For the more energetic, tennis courts can be booked via Concierge and we will lend you tennis rackets and balls.
