The breakfast was much better that we expected.

A nice small hotel in a easy location to arrive by underground from Heathrow airport. Near the Central London. Simply but very good breakfast. No elevator, and the stairs are steep.

Question 1: Didn't really use your directions (used a map), but just reviewed them online and they were very clear and accurate.
...
Room was clean and private. A moderate amount of noise from adjoining rooms was present, depending on activities of the occupants. By American standards, the room was not spacious, but it was certainly adequate and no less than we had expected.
...
No.
...
Very convenient location, easy access to most museum and city tourist destinations with no or only one underground line change. Good selection of moderate priced restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance. Two larger convenience stores (Sainbury's Local and Somersets) and numerous smaller ones within 2-3 minutes. Reasonably priced (for London). Pleasant, helpful staff. I would highly recommend to any of my friends who are interested in pleasant accomodations at a fair rate. I would definately stay there again (though I might try for a room with a larger shower facility or a tub).

As an aside, we do intend to post some comments on Frommer's, etc. that are Positive about our stay, the location, etc.

We found the triple room absolutely charming and well-kept. however on our 2nd night we had to stay at their 'sister hotel' (across the street, I don't remember its name) and the room, though ok, had nothing to do with the Rushmore's! And the staff was not as nice either.

www.LondonBy.Com could not predict why my stay was not pleasant. The hotel was extremelly noisy (i.e., construction on the premises occurring every morning early, doors slamming throughout the hotel late into the night and early in the morning, loud talking by staff, cleaning crew vacuuming, etc.) My room was extremelly small and shower was so small, I could hardly turn around in it.
...
Street noise and noise in the hotel is very much a negative factor in staying at this hotel. If you stay here, earplugs are a necessity. Only one member of the hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
...
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for the above reasons stated.

The only thing that bothered me was that I specifically requested a non-smoking room. This was also indicated on the room door 'no smoking'. However, the room smelt very, very strongly of smoke. More like it was frequently being smoked in rather than having previously been a smoking room and then a while converted to a non-smoking one.

...
as stated above....like the 'select' selection.

We had two rooms, 14 and 23. Arrival went fine. Staff was excellent. But payment for the entire 5 night stay was requested in full at checkin?
...
During our 5 day stay the desk staff was excelent every time except once. The Rushmore requests you leave your key with the desk when going out. One evening the desk clerk was asleep and we left the key on the desk. When we returned a few hours later, the clerk was still asleep and the key was still on the desk where anyone could have picked it up. Not good! Next time we will wake him.

The rooms could have been cleaner. In room 23, there was a 6' diameter disk vent high up on the main window. We tried to turn it to open it and it was filthy. Yuk!

Lastly, the staff in the breakfast room were lackluster. They seemed annoyed when asked for coffee or other service. Their poor attitude and lack of caring could certanily use some correction.
...
No problems. Full payment had been made up front at check-in. Just turned in key and said goodby.
...
Clearly mention there is NO elevator and that the stairs are steep and somenwhat narrow (and slanted?). My 76 year old mother found the stairs a challange.

Older and in need of upgrades, small rooms, tiny shower(room 14), no air conditioning, but the price was fair for what was provided considering it was in high priced London.

My room faced to the backyard, so it was quiet and good corcumstances. The other thing is that it must be shown the room has got bathtub or only shower.
The arrow on the map pointed little bit different point, so I came out from the opposite exit of earls court station. It would be better that it is shown which exit is nearer.

The Rushmore Hotel was located in a really convenient, though not stylish, part of London. The staff were most helpful. The breakfast room was pleasant and the hotel offered a good selection of food for a light breakfast. The bedroom was a bit shabby and cramped for 3 people. The bathroom provided all facilities but was the tiniest bathroom we'd ever experienced. This was fine for a stay of a couple of nights.

An impoprtant telephone message was left for us with the front desk receptionist. Upon arriving back at the hotel I was informed that 'someone by the name of Brian, I think, left you a message'. No other details, no written message...totally unacceptable. Thankfully we were able to figure out on our own who might have called us.

Also, our enquiries about local restaurants and hair dressing establishments were met with rather unknowledgeable answers.

The web site protrayed it as being set up a little differently. Perhaps you could mention (unless I missed it on the web site) that the Breakfast Room is downstairs. Breakfast itself was very good though. Also, one night I found a window in my room opened that I had not opened. Considering my room faced the street and was on the first floor this caused me distress.

My reservation was unknown to the hotel. However they accepted my voucher without questions and offered me (after some time) another room. They should consider placing the luggage in a safer place for storage however. It was in the laudry room in the basement where anybody can access it. Didn't feel that was appropriate.

This was the first B&B in Europe that we stayed at and so our expectations were not very high. They were adequate but their breakfast was not served until 7 am or so and we missed their selection.

The staff was very helpful and they even got our tour information that we wanted. The one thing I thought was nice was that we had a balcony - albeit looking into a shabby backyard and old furniture, it was a nice touch.
...
Rooms and bathrooms are far smaller than you might think. The balcony for some strange reason, made me feel like we got a better deal though.
...
The location is ideal, front facade is beautiful. The place is small and smells odd - mold perhaps. Don't try to check in early your baggage will not be in a safe place. Stay if you are wanting to tour London, the amenities in the area are fantastic.

The only thing stated in the voucher was a room for 4 with bathroom and I did get that.
...
The only reason why I stayed the whole time was because it was clean. I stayed in a room for 4 people. The room was on the 4th floor with no lift. The room looked like the furniture that they did not use anymore had been dumped there. My son's bed was a wooden plank that was on the floor, plus 3 or 4 matresses on top of each other. A grown person could not stand upright in the shower and we could not lock the bathroom door. My kids were ok with this so that is why I did not want to make any fuzz, but if I would have gotten this type of room and it would have been only me and my husband I would have walked out the first night. At least the room for 4 did not look anything like the picture posted on the internet.
...
Regarding value for money I am not quite sure. This was the first time I took my kids to London so I had never had to book a room for 4 before this. I have been numerous times my self to London and I have never been disappointed with the hotel stay before.
...
The receptionist that was working when we arrived and when we left was ok. smiled and was polite. The same can not be said for the receptionist that was working for almost the whole stay, she was unpolite and showed no pleasure in her work, did not smile, did not even say good morning unless someone spoke to her first. The ladies working in the breakfastroom smiled and were pleasant but their understanding of english was very little, only if your answers were yes or no did they understand. By the way, the breakfastroom was the nicest room in the hotel.
...
I would would never recommend this hotel to a friend unless he wanted to try a room for two. But then he would get the same service at the reception desk.

We arrived at the hotel around 10:30 a.m. and were firmly told that we could not check in before 1 p.m. We had to ask if there was a place to store our bags and were pointed to the basement - down a narrow flight of steps to a tiny room which also housed the janitorial supplies, washer/dryer, etc. and a door leading outside that the staff were in and out of taking smoke breaks. We were reluctant to leave our bags there from a security standpt. (several signs were posted saying the hotel would not be responsible for lost bags). My sister's checked bag didn't make the flight and we checked several times to see if it had come in, only to be told repeatedly (and quite insistently by the front desk person) that it had not been delivered. On a gut feeling my sister went down to the baggage room around 9 p.m. (against the wishes of the front desk person) and there was her bag.
...
The room was very tiny, but at least had a bathroom in it. There were several things about our stay that would prevent us from returning. There is no lift and having to walk up 4 flights of steps (especially carrying luggage) was miserable - five flights if you count going to the basement for breakfast). Also, although the weather was in the fifties, the heat was cranked up at all times. We had to keep the window open wide, with the drape tied back to try to make it tolerable. When we went down to complain about the heat, another guest was there before us, and the front desk person told them it was supposed to go off at 11 p.m., but she thought it was broken so there wasn't anything she could do about it. It was stifling! Even though we left our towels on the floor, we didn't get fresh towels unless we asked for them each time - and then only one for each of us - no hand towels at all.
Overall, it seemed to us that the hotel was run by a bunch of young kids who really didn't care about the quality of our stay. Even simple questions about the weather for the day, or directions were met with a shrug. I don't think there was a single staff member that we came in contact with that spoke English fluently, and one evening member was always in the little office off the reception area with an unusual smell emanating from the room as she came out.
...
No assistance with even getting our bags out the door as we were leaving.
...
