The buildings which now comprise La Gaffe were originally shepherds cottages dating back to 1734. Much has changed since then and now this site is a family run, cosy residential inn with the emphasis on comfort and informality.

The Stella family and La Gaffe have been a fixture in Hampstead since 1962 and we endeavour to provide the friendly welcome and excellent service that have made us a Hampstead favourite.

Over the years, we have expanded and introduced the hotel in 1976 and the wine bar in 1986. Today, we are Hampstead's oldest established, family run restaurant, providing gourmet Italian cuisine served in our warm and welcoming restaurant or wine bar.

Hampstead is an extremely charming area full of quaint houses and little side streets which lend this suburb of London a very individual flavour.

Hampstead has the best of both worlds. To reach the centre of London is only a short tube ride away, but if you want to get away from the noise and pollution of central London then Hampstead Heath is the perfect antidote.

Hampstead is known as the roof of London and
from Parliament hill one can see all over central London, and then wander through the many paths the Heath has to offer for a feeling of being in the countryside.
