Hazlitt’s is the ideal base in the heart of London’s cosmopolitan Theatreland, with an intimate charm no large hotel can match. The three 18th century townhouses that Hazlitt’s comprises have recently undergone a major refurbishment programme, revealing for the first time in nearly three hundred years, the original Georgian panelling in sixteen of the 23 bedrooms. Skilled master craftsmen were employed to undertake the painstaking task of restoring the hotel back to its former 18th century splendour.

When the houses were built in 1718, there were no elevators, since then the plumbing has been updated, bathrooms installed and the candles replaced with electricity. None of the original residents could have dreamt of creature comforts such as air-conditioning, 24 hour room service, e-mail, satellite TV, Egyptian cotton bedlinen or even hot & cold running water.

The hotel's charming old-fashioned hospitality remains, as do the sloping stairs, the free standing Victorian baths and the splendid, carved mahogany headboards. The sitting room is traditional, with original panelled walls and mellow, unpretentious old furniture, pictures and rugs.

At Hazlitt’s our philosophy is simple.
We have set out to create the kind of accommodation we ourselves would love to find in the heart of one of the world’s great cities. Civilised surroundings; old-fashioned hospitality; friendly, efficient service; a location away from the roar of traffic, but within a very short walk of the most important attractions.
