ON ARRIVAL I MENTIONED THAT OUR ROOM WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AIR CONDITIONED. IT WAS NOT. WE WERE GIVEN A PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER WHICH WAS NOISY AND NEEDED EMPTYING OFTEN AND TOOK UP LOTS OF SPACE AND STOPPED US GETTING IN BED FROM ONE SIDE AND DID NOT ALLOW US TO CLOSE THE CURTIANS AT NIGHT. WE ALSO SAID THAT THERE WAS NOWHHERE TO PUT OUR SUITCASES IN THIS VERY CRAMPED ROOM, I HAD TO MOVE SOME FURNITURE OUT OF THE ROOM MYSELF AND PUT IT OUTSIDE THE ROOM. (WE BOOKED A DELUXE KING/QUEEN) THIS WAS DEFINATLEY NOT THE CASE. WHEN I MENTIONED THIS THERE WAS NO MOVE TO OFFER ME ANY ALTERNATIVE. ... THE ROOMS WERE VERY VERY TINY AND DIRTY AND IN NEED OF REFURBISHMENT AND PAINT. THE CURTIANS WERE TORN AND FRAYED BADLY AND THE DECORATIVE PILLOWS FOR THE BED WERE DIRTY AND STAINED, THE PUBLIC ROOMS WERE CLEANER AND IN BETTER CONDITION ... WE ASKED THE RECEPTION STAFF ABOUT RETURNING TO THE AIRPORT AND WERE RECCOMENDED THIS SERVICE BY 'CITY LINK' WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO TRANSPORT US AND OUR LUGGAGE TO THE AIRPORT FROM THE HOTEL, WE WERE ASKED FOR OUR DEPARTURE TIME SO THAT A TIME FOR COLLECTION COULD BE ARRANGED (GUARENTEED TO GET YOU THERE IN PLENTY OF TIME)WE WAITED AROUND FOR OVER 1 HOUR FROM THE ARRANGED TIME ONLY TO BE TAKEN TO A RAILWAY STATION AND TOLD TO BOARD A TRAIN THAT WOULD TAKE US MOST OF THE WAY, AND WE HANDLED OUR OWN LUGGAGE, NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WERE VERY LATE AND ALMOST MISSED OUR FLIGHT. AND WE COULD HAVE HAD A CAB DOOR TO DOOR FOR LESS MONEY. ... THE WHOLE HOTEL HAS A RUN DOWN LOOK AND IS IN NEED OFREFURBISHMENT AND THE ELEVATOR ONLY GOES TO THE FIRST FLOOR, SO WE HAD TO USE THE STAIRS,THERE IS A BAR IN THE HOTEL BUT IT WAS NEVER STAFFED IN THE TIME WE WERE IN THE HOTEL SO WE COULD NOT GET A DRINK. THE ROOMS WERE VERY VERY TINY ANBD I THINK VERY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT WAS AVAILABLE. ... THE HOTEL WAS IN A VERY GOOD LOCATION FOR THE WEST END BUT WAS IN NEED OF TIDYING UP, THE SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD AND THAT WAS WHAT THE ONLY THING THAT MADE OUR STAY ACCEPTABLE. BREAKFAST WAS ALSO VERY GOOD. WE WOULD NOT GO BACK.

There was no lime or pineapple available for drinks when we arrived. The receptionist was very rude to one of the porters in front of us and we were made to sit and wait for 25 minutes before we could book in. This was despite us having arrived after the allocated booking-in time and also there were no other people waiting. ... Breakfast on the first day was stated as Full English, but there were no sausages or mushrooms available. These were however available on the second day. Also the lift broke down when we left the breakfast area (three people were trapped in it), so we had to walk up 5 flights of stairs to our room. ... It is worth mentioning that there is a sister hotel over the road named The Gainsborough, which allows use of its facilities. ... Mostly ok, but a bit old-fashioned. Mostly we enjoyed the stay, but I'm not sure we will use the hotel again.

It is appreciated to have this voiced out. It seems that you guys are really caring.
The Gallery is a good place to stay and we enjoyed the breakfasts every morning with attentive service. Thanks to the waiters and waitress at the breakfast room.
HOWEVER, the RECEPTIONST's attitude ruined our holiday mood. That evening, as we arrived and struggled with the luggages at the door of 'The Gallery', the lady at the reception table was really COOL without lifting up her eyes even to glance a bit. Mind you, there was nothing occupying her at that pretty long moment.
Then when I managed to stumble to the front of her desk and just ready to open my mouth wishing to greet her, her phone rang. Of course the lady answered the phone promptly and the conversation lasted for a few minutes. All along there was no eye contact, no smile or any gesture from her to acknowledge our existance.
Can you say that this is the way to treat your guests?
Remember I had made modification about the reservation?(Please check that) I stated that one more person would live in and asked for whatever they could manage and even add the charge if necessary. The reply was my modification was declined because nothing they could do and the original reservation was valid.
Then how come the lady treated us as we intentionally took the advantage of 4 people staying in a triple room? She claimed that they got no modification request from me so far!!!(I still have that rely message)
Even though there was distress during our stay, we still love this hotel. Hoping that the training of the receptionsts would be up to the standard and let the guests from all over the world feel welcoming. ... For the questionarie no.6, 'Mostly' means the waiters, waitress and the house-keepings only!! ... The Gallery is at a good location, conveinent, quiet and clean. The breakfast is delicious and nutritious. Wish you luck to face a professional receptionst!

Only problem was with double bed which in fact was two single beds made up separately. ... Breakfast could be improved for the price.
