There are many airports in and around London served by different companies. All major London airports are listed below with instructions on how to travel from to Central London by public transport.
Coming by air from Heathrow airport: By Tube- Follow the signs to the underground station that serves all 4 Heathrow Terminals. This is the Piccadily line direct to King's Cross Station. Peak times the trains run every 4 minutes and every 10 minutes at other time. They operate from 6am to midnight and the journey time door to door is 45-50 minutes.
By Bus- Most coach and bus services operate from Heathrow's central bus station, which can be reached by the subways linking Terminals 1,2&3. Central bus station is well signpost from all terminals and is located next to the London Underground station for Terminals 1,2&3. There are various bus companies that run from London Heathrow to London Victoria Coach Station (London's Central Bus Station). Once there take the Victoria line towards Walthamstow Central(north) and get off at King's Cross station.
By Taxi- London's famous black cabs are available outside all terminals. If you have excess luggage, this is the best way to travel to the hotel. The trip could take from 30 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic.
Coming by air from Gatwich airport: Thameslink underground- Not the fastest but trains are direct to King's Cross. Thameslink provides good rail service from the Gatwick station to King's Cross station. Trains leave from Gatwick around 5.45am until midnight, with a travel time of around 35 minutes.
Gatwich Express- The Gatwick Express train is the fastest way to get into London, but when going to King's Cross you will have to change at Victoria. British rail operates the Gatwick Express to Victoria station. The walk to the airport rail terminal in the south Terminal is convenient. From the North terminal, take the free shuttle service to the South Terminal which drops you off right by the airport rail station. Once at Victoria station take the Victoria line towards Walthamstow Central (north) and get off at King's Cross station. It will take approximately 8 minutes.
By Bus- Jetlink operates an express bus to Victoria Coach station from Gatwick via Wandsworth and Chessington. Once at Victoria station take the Victoria line towards Walthamstow Central (north) and get off at King's Cross station. It will take approximately 8 minutes.
Coming by air from Stansted airport: This express train service takes you from Stansted Airport to Liverpool Street Station. You then need to take one of three options, either Metropolitan line, Circle line or Hammersmith and City line, all three of these lines will connect you between Liverpool Street Station and King's Cross Station by tube. The express train service runs from 6am to 10pm every 30 min.
Coming by air from Luton airport: There is a regular direct service from the Airport to King's Cross Station which runs from 06.10 am 09.00 pm Monday-Friday every 10 min. Weekend trains run every 20 minutes. The journey time is approx. 30 minutes.
From King's Cross-St.Pancras subway and train station: Come out of the main terminal of King's Cross station and cross the road. Between the Post Office and the Barclays Bank you will find Belgrove Road, follow this road to the top and this leads into Argyle Square. |
